Breadcrumbs generate unexpected amount of cached items

During simple dev environment testing for 10 concurrent users with 10 cycle breadcrumbs seem to fill up to the 1000 limit very quickly. We need to investigate if either the caching is incorrect or indeed we have that many unique items and maybe need to raise the cache items limits.
